The original electro-mechanical sequential relay is a roughly 3 inch square metal box with a black plastic lid to which about a dozen wires are attached. the new replacement unit has a matching plug that will plug right into the original harness.
If you have a 68, care must be taken when ordering because Ford changed the design 3 times during the 68 model year. (Not one of Ford's better ideas) If you order the wrong one, the lights will not flash in the right order. Should this occur, you can either return it for exchange or cut and splice wires in the harness to make the lights go off in the proper order.
If you have a 69, you must first determine if your car is early production and equipped with the electro-mechanical system or if it is late production and is equipped with the "black box" system. This unit only works with the electro-mechanical system. If you have the "black box" you must replace it with another "black box" unit. |
